Connor Harold Garfield Keenan-Eakins

It's a sad day in our house. We lost a member of our family that was loved very much.

When I got Connor it was on Oct 4, 2002 at the Grapevine Animal Shelter. I was on Petfinder.com and saw this adorable orange fuzzbutt with the look of 'Will you be my Mom?' and after 4 days of deciding if I wanted another cat (since I had Satine) I decided that I would be his Mom.

And then the roller coaster life began....

He put up with Satine beating up on him reminding he that no matter what he was still a "guest" in the house.

He adored Adam.

I called him my weather vane because 10 minutes before it started thundering and lightening Connor was looking for a cabinet to hide in.

For the past couple of days Connor has been acting up (more than usual) and we decided to bring him to the vet to see what was going on.

We found out that Connor was very sick. Adam and I talked to the Doctor this afternoon with all the options. He told us it was our decision and what ever we decided it was up to us. After talking about it again we decided to let him go.

We stayed until it was time to do the next step. I rocked him and told him that he was a good cat (even if he was a pain in the butt at times), that we would miss him a lot, to make sure and see my Mom and other family members in Heaven and not to poop on Gods floor.

He will be missed.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
